My Story

Joshua Timmer (writing as J.N. Timmer) has always been curious about how things work—whether it’s a machine, a family, or a story. That curiosity led him to a degree in mechanical engineering and a lifelong passion for hands-on projects, storytelling, and creative exploration.
A husband to Anna and dad to three amazing kids, Joshua writes with heart, humor, and a deep appreciation for the messy beauty of life. His journey has taken him through the joys and heartaches of adoption and foster care, and around the world—from Japan to the Middle East, the South Pacific, Africa, and across both coasts of the U.S. But his favorite place is still home—playing with his kids, walking with his wife, or working on their latest DIY idea.
When he’s not writing, Joshua enjoys drawing, golfing, and creating computer graphics and animations. His work blends technical insight with creativity, aiming to inspire families, spark imagination, and explore what it means to live with purpose and wonder.
